William Gibson har klaget over at hans kyberpønk visjoner blir virkeliggjort fortere enn han kan spinne dem ut – og hans siste bok Pattern Recognition var derfor en kyberpønkbok satt i et realistisk samtids-univers. Selv om svevebilene, de intelligente robotene og boblebyene på mars ikke har kommet enda, mistenker jeg at vi nå må innse at vi rett og slett lever i framtiden. Framtiden er her – endelig har vi tatt den igjen. Det synes jeg vi skal være veldig fornøyde med, eventuelt vurdere en pust i bakken hvis vi har tid.
